María José García-Pelayo inaugurates the new Center of Excellence and Data Office in Jerez de la Frontera
Jerez de la Frontera has inaugurated its Center of Excellence and Data Office (CEOD), a new space located in the City Council’s Digital Transformation Building and aimed at driving data-driven urban projects. The presentation was presided over by the mayor, María José García-Pelayo, alongside institutional representatives, members of the academic field, and local companies linked to the data ecosystem.
This center will allow the city to move towards a smarter and more efficient management of its public services. As the mayor highlighted during the event, thanks to the strategic use of data, “we will be able to be faster and more efficient when offering public services, improving both the diagnosis of reality and government decision-making.”
During the presentation, various institutions highlighted the importance of this new center:
The Government sub-delegate in Cádiz, Blanca Flores Cueto, valued the initiative as an opportunity to continue advancing in the digital transformation of the public sector and to reinforce the role of municipalities “in this revolution.”
For his part, the general secretary of the FEMP, Luis Antonio Martínez-Sicluna, underlined the Federation’s commitment to supporting local entities in their technological progress: “A smart city is one that promotes solutions that benefit its citizens. EDINT is born from the territory and for the territory, to transform data into real opportunities and improve people’s lives.”
Local data ecosystem
The event concluded with a round table on the opportunities of the data economy in Jerez, moderated by José Ignacio Martínez, deputy mayor. It featured representatives from SICE, UTE Jerez, Aqualia, and the University of Cádiz, entities that are part of the project’s local ecosystem.
