The Provincial Council of Badajoz inaugurates its Center of Excellence and Data Office to drive local innovation

The Provincial Council of Badajoz has inaugurated its new Center of Excellence and Data Office (CEOD), a space designed to drive innovative data-driven projects and improve the functioning of public services throughout the province. The event was attended by institutional leaders and representatives from technology companies that are part of the CEOD’s working ecosystem.

The day began with a presentation by Jaime Gragera, Director of the Innovation and Digital Administration Area, followed by speeches from Raquel del Puerto, President of the Provincial Council of Badajoz; Pablo Bárcenas, Deputy Director of Smart Territories at FEMP; and Jesús Herrero, General Director of Red.es. Miguel Ángel Martín, a representative from INN, also participated, explaining the operation of the local CEOD before leading into a round table with companies collaborating on the initiative: Telefónica, Eficae, MB3, and NeoCK.

During the event, Pablo Bárcenas highlighted the project’s focus on improving life in the municipalities:

“EDINT was created with a commitment to serving the public, carrying out its actions in three priority areas: smart mobility, resource and public service management, and local competitiveness.”

The President of the Provincial Council, Raquel del Puerto, highlighted the previous work carried out in the province: “We are part of this network thanks to the work to digitize our towns and the level of technological maturity we have achieved.” Furthermore, she explained the importance of the project reaching all municipalities: “We are going to work to ensure that EDINT has an impact across the entire province and to ensure that data is secure, clear, and promotes interoperability”.

The subsequent round table included the participation of companies providing their technological vision to the CEOD. Key topics for the future of public services were discussed, such as automation, the responsible use of data, applied artificial intelligence, and resource optimization.

Finally, the Deputy for Technology and Digitization, Francisca Silva Leñador, closed the meeting by thanking all participating entities for their involvement.
