The Jaén Provincial Council presents its CEOD in the province to promote a smarter territory
Jaén officially joins the map of territories leading the data economy. The Provincial Council has inaugurated its new Center of Excellence and Data Office (CEOD), located in the Geolit Technology Park.
This center was created with a clear objective: to transform data into real opportunities for people, improving public services and local competitiveness. Funded by the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, through Red.es, the project has an investment of nearly 13 million euros.
During the inauguration, the Provincial Deputy for Employment and Business, Luis Miguel Carmona, highlighted that “the data economy is the new oil,” emphasizing the strategic value of participating in a project that “allows Jaén to access information analysis that would be unattainable individually.”
Pablo Bárcenas, Deputy Director of Smart Territories at FEMP, explained that “EDINT allows us to leverage the data generated by smart city infrastructures to build new products and services through public-private collaboration, in a secure and trusted environment.”
The closing of the event, which also included a round table, was led by the Provincial Deputy for Electronic Government and Internal Affairs, Inés Arco, who highlighted the possibilities of generating “qualified employment in Jaén” thanks to the project.
With its incorporation, Jaén joins a network of 12 local entities that are leading the way in digital and sustainable transformation in Spain, alongside city councils such as Madrid, Málaga, Valencia, or A Coruña, and the Provincial Council of Badajoz. In addition, 36 companies are actively collaborating to develop data-driven solutions focused on people.
